The Blu-ray market share was 16% and the revenue was up to $38.86M for the week ending October 25th, according to Home Media Magazine.

This huge revenue number was primarily due to the high sales for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and is the highest we have seen this year.

In fact rumours are abound that the Transformers sequel released by Paramount/DreamWorks has set a new record for first week sales.

Of course many of us recall clearly that the original Transformers movie release was initially released as an HD DVD exclusive, but I digress…

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen of course took 1st place, selling almost 10 times the volumes of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from Disney in 2nd place.

It was another big step down in volume to The Proposal from Disney in 3rd, X-Men Origins: Wolverine from Fox in 4th and the original Transformers from Paramount/DreamWorks in 5th position.

Other recent releases in the chart include Monsters vs. Aliens from Paramount/DreamWorks in 6th place, and Drag Me to Hell and Land of the Lost from Universal in 8th and 10th places respectively.

So definitely a good week for Paramount/DreamWorks on Blu-ray Disc.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had a very healthy Blu-ray market share, selling 26% on the hidef format.

This was exceeded however by X-Men Origins: Wolverine which sold a full 30% of its units on Blu-ray Disc.

Drag Me to Hell is still doing well at 17%, Monsters vs. Aliens had a more modest 10%, while Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead and The Proposal had even less at 7% Blu-ray market share.

We have certainly come a long way now when we consider 7% market share for a new release to be low!
