I like sales as much as the next guy, but for me these days I am not really all that interested in Blu-ray sales unless they are half off retail or better.

Right now Amazon has quite a wide range of titles that fall into that category.

From Paramount and DreamWorks you can get recent releases like The Kite Runner, Things We Lost in the Fire, The Truman Show and A Mighty Heart for $14.99 and Babel, Top Gun and The Hunt for Red October for $14.49.

20th Century Fox has Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Max Payne and Stargate: Continuum for $19.99.

For titles under $10, look for The Proposition, Immortal and The Breed from First Look Pictures or First Blood, The Punisher and Total Recall from Lionsgate.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin and End of Days from Universal are also half off at $14.99.

We have noticed that there is a lot of confusion about blu-ray (Blue-ray) spelling. Almost 50% of all Blu-ray searches in Google are done with Blue-ray or Blueray. And within the misspelled searches, Blue-ray is about 80% and Blueray is the other 20%. The numbers from Overture for july are 26708 searches for Blu-ray compared to 8618 for Blue-ray and 1082 for Bluray.

It was a choice made by the Blu-ray disc association to remove the "e" from blue-ray to be able to have a trademark on it. "Blue-ray disc" or "Blueray disc" would have not been so easy. We are wondering if people are searching half the time with "Blue-ray players" or "Blue-ray movies" or even worse "HD DVD vs. Blue-ray", if they are going to find what they are looking for? They will find results talking about blu-ray, but it’s going to be limited because of the pollution done by sites that have misspelled blu-ray themselves with blue-ray or blueray.

Google and the other search engines can make the translation between "blue-ray and blu-ray" or "blueray and blu-ray" but it is certainly going to hurt the search result. The "did you mean" could have helped but websites writers are doing so much mistakes that there is enough results for "Blue-ray" that the "did you mean" doesn’t pop-up.

An ad by a major retail store in the newspapers last week was announcing the "Samsung Blue-ray player"! Talk about confusing people! All those people that did not knew about the technology are now convinced that the correct spelling is Blue-ray and not Blu-ray. They just run to their computer now and search for Blue-ray and find enough results just like if it was the correct spelling.

Blue-ray may look cool without the "e" but at this point, the only result they have is a major dilution of the internet traffic.

We took a look at the HD DVD camp if they had problems with HDDVD or HDVD. We found those results for july in Overture: 29299 searches for HD DVD against 1527 for HDDVD and only 515 for HDVD. We see that the HD DVD doesn’t have a misspelling problem like the blu-ray camp. We can certainly count that as a bonus for HD DVD in the "HD DVD vs. Blue-ray" war!

The Best Blu Ray Movies Of All Time

With more than a dozen major movie studios supporting the Blu ray disc format, it is no wonder that Blu ray movies often fly off of shelves the minute that they are

released. Why the big scramble for the BDs while the same films that are on DVDs sit with nary a taker? There are a lot of things that in many peoples opinions make the Blu ray format supreme to DVDs, but which movies on BD are considered the best?

The extras are considered excellent from the audio commentaries to feature length documentaries, and the movie has been digitally restored and has been called dazzling by many.
Ratatouille is another one that has been dubbed as one of the best, and it is because the crisp video and brilliant colors are nothing short of impressively mesmerizing to look at. Going way above and beyond just a simple cartoon, this movie has become one of the favorites of Blu ray fans everywhere.

Another fan favorite of the Blu ray movies is The Godfather set. The restoration that had gone into these films was incredibly difficult because the original negative had been damaged over time because it has been printed so many times. The restoration was a stunning success, however, which resulted in a beautifully clear picture and audio that has never been heard before that is full of new power, richness, and fullness. These are just a few examples of some of the most popular Blu ray movies that have been released for fans to enjoy and cherish for years more to come.

Faq: What Is The Difference Between Blu Ray And Dvd Formats?

One of the most common questions about Blu Ray and DVD is, Whats the Difference? and the truth is that there are several. Just as the digital disc replaced VHS tapes with better sound and sharper image quality, the Blu Ray is expected to replace the DVDs with better audio and visual performance and more.

To start, the storage capacity of the current single layer DVD is 4.7GB, and the dual layer is 8.5GB. The Blu Ray discs have 25GB and 50GB, respectively. More storage capacity means more of the movie can fit onto one disc, and there is loads more room for bonus features and interactive extras on the BD (Blu ray) disc. The laser wavelength of the digital video disc (DVD) is 650nm (red laser) while the BD is at 405nm (blue laser). Both kinds of discs have the same diameters and the same thickness, at 120mm and 1.2mm respectively.

What many find interesting about the difference between the DVD disc and the Blu ray format is that while the DVD has a protective layer that is 0.6mm thick, the BD has a layer for protection that is only 0.1mm thick. However, while the digital video disc has no hard coating to help protect it, the BD does. There is a difference in track pitch in the two kinds of formats; the Blu ray has a track pitch of 0.32 m while the DVD disc has a track pitch of 0.74 m. In addition, the BD has a data transfer rate for downloads of 36.0Mbps (1x) while the digital video disc has a data transfer rate of only 11.08Mbps (1x). For audio and video transfers, the transfer rate for BD is 54.0Mbps (1.5x) and the audio/video transfer rate for the digital disc is only 10.08Mbps (
